Mary's Blog for 3/27/2011 (Inspirational Conversations)

A MESSAGE THAT WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME

To days' show was a follow up to my RED BOOK Magazine feature article. The Article highlighted my experience with being a BULLY. I shared how I was honored yet, concerned that the articles primary focus would be placed on the bullying and less on the lessons gained. Many not only read the article but they also reached out to me, including the media with various questions.  I was honored to set aside time on today's show and respond to several of the questions. Advice was given for those who are BULLIES, to those who are being BULLIED and to the parents of both.

However, I found the most profound question to be: What have I learned from my experience as a young BULLY: Well, I learned that, it's important that you never count yourself out. Regardless, of what you are, who you are, what you were or what they said you would never have the capacity to become, that chapter pertaining to your journey, is still being written and within you lies the capacity to achieve greatness. There is a lesson to be gained from every experience. And for many, long after you have gained the lessons, atoned and moved forward within your journey, GOD has the capacity, to bring a buried experience to the forefront and utilize you and your experience as a tool to bring about positive change within others.

It is my hope that today's message on Inspirational Conversations Radio Show, will stand the test of time.

Mary's Blog for 3/20/2011 (Inspirational Conversations)

THE BEST MEDICINE FOR THE SOUL IS THE LOVE OF FAMILY
Think about how much time, patience and stitching goes into the creation of a crouched blanket: the same can be said about the rearing  of a child. Lot's of time and patience goes into creating a solid foundation. With each stitch, you are weaving in love, wisdom. knowledge, strength, courage, respect, honor, core values, dignity, honesty, kindness etc. With each stitch your parents were simply preparing you to step out into the world and pursue your goals.

For many if you think back to your teenage response; there was an urgency to break free from their clutches, their attempts to contain you. However, one day your parents veiled you with your blanket and you stepped out into the world with your armor and when you were least prepared for battle, life happened. With each challenge you encountered, you found yourself clinging to your armor. I went on to share how even in the best of circumstances, we never stop longing for the love, reassurance, protection, joy, and realness that family brings to us.

In addition, I shared how during the week of March 20th, I was in San Diego for several Literary events as well as, sharing time with my family. I arrived depleted and with each passing hour, I felt my soul being  replenished. I find it amazing how mom's love, family hugs, combined with the love of good friends is a recipe for a fabulous experience. I invited all to set aside time to invest in family.

I concluded by reminding all of how so many times when a family member is gravely ill or passes away, we say, if I only had one more day, if I could just sit with this person and express what it is I feel, if I only had more time, I would cherish it. I stated that if you woke up this morning, then you had been given just that...another day!!! All were encouraged to spend that day cherishing family and friends.

It was a soulful day on Inspirational Conversations Radio Show,

        THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

I started off Sunday's show by asking these important questions: How many of you are holding on to anger, holding on to a grudge, or seeking out revenge for a incident that occurred recently or many years ago? I noted that for many not forgiving or letting go is about winning. The winning of what; extra heart ache, additional stress, additional worry, anxiety, endless conflict and regrets; no power in that. I also shared the details of an incident that occurred many years ago and how I refused to let go and how a friend explained to me that when we hold on to anger, we give our power away. The person who wronged  you is off living their life and you're still holding on and waiting for some sort of acknowledgment and in all honesty, that apology may never come. She went on to state that peace on every level starts with forgiveness. Forgive them and in doing so, you will actually free your self of negative energy and you will lighten your emotional load. I shared how it took me awhile but I finally learned how to let go.

My belief is that when you refuse to let go and let GOD, you give opportunity for negative thoughts to enter your mind and contaminate your spirit. You start thinking and acting in ways that may not be a reflection of who you are. I also came to understand that we are all on a journey and as we move through life, we encounter individuals at various points within their journey and they encounter us at various points within our journey. I went on to state that some of you are holding on to a moment within someone Else's journey that may longer exist, that one experience that made you so angry, may no longer be reflective of who they are today.

Today's show concluded with these words: Your visit here is so short, perhaps, the time has come to let it go...let go of the anger and if the relationship is of importance, work it out. I'm asking you to practice forgiveness and let GOD. In addition, the following Scriptures were read, Colossians 3:14 and Roman's 12:19.

A lot of forgiving was going on today, on Inspirational Conversations Radio Show.

(Sun. March 6, 2011) Mary's Motivational Message

THERE IS A PURPOSE IN YOUR STRUGGLE

Today's show was based on a email request submitted from a local college student, whose desire was for Inspirational conversations Radio Show, to provide inspiration to those college students who are putting forth much effort yet, they are left with feelings of depletion. She believes that many of her fellow students want to soar but due to stress and mental exhaustion, many are unable to flap their wings. And as a result, many are left to ask, "is there truly a purpose in their day to day struggle." I explained how I initially declined her request because I had just presented this topic months ago. The show was titled, "The Back To School Blues." As a result, I declined the students' request.

I went on to share how a couple of days after deciding against the topic, I received an email marked of high importance. The emails sender stated how she had came across a wonderful story and felt that it would bless me. The message presenter went on to talk about the metamorphosis of a Caterpillar into a butterfly and how the story is a reminder of how the struggles we endure, are meant to strengthen and equip us for our destiny. The story was read and its' moral was: As you go through school and life, keep in mind that struggling is an important part of any growth experience. In fact, it is the struggle that causes you to develop the ability to fly.

I concluded my segment with stating how when the student sought out my wisdom, I felt that this was not the time to address her request but GOD saw differently. In addition, I also felt that I had no way of re packaging the message presented months ago. However, GOD solved my delimma by sending to me the very message, those students needed to hear at that very moment.

Much purpose in today's message on Inspirational Conversations Radio Show.

(Sun. Feb. 27, 2011) Mary's Motivational Message

A CELEBRATION OF THE HISTORY IN THE MAKING

On Sunday Cyrus and I set aside time to celebrate history in the making. February is the month of LOVE and it is also the month for honoring those who have paved the way for so many. I shared how several weeks ago, I received a invite from Alameda County (Ca), to speak at their annual Black History Celebration. Their desire was for me to share my journey as an author. I agreed to participate and the morning of the event, I was moved to re-vamp my speech. Two hours before I was set to depart, I was at my computer re-writing my words. For whatever reason, I was moved to take the focus away from myself. Three-hundred employees were expected at that event and it was my moment but I was being pulled in a different direction.

I shared with the radio audience a small portion of what I shared. I explained how there is no greater joy than standing on the front line and advocating everyday for children and their families, the elderly and for those with disabilities; no greater legacy. I also shared how we are all blessed with many talents, passions, desires and dreams. And for those who are working a 9 to 5 and feel as though they are sitting on a dream; they were reminded hat the only person stopping them, are the very barriers they build. Life is not am all or nothing gig. All were reminded of how it takes courage to follow your passions because to do so may cause a shift, a discomfort but if Cyrus and I can do it, they can as well.

In closing, all were encouraged to remember the importance of displaying gratitude to those standing on the front line but most importantly to never forget the legacy that you leave each and every day.

It's amazing, how GOD will take a situation and utilize you as a tool, to simply deliver his message.. It was never about me, it was about the message God sent me to deliver. However, in the end, I gained so very much.

A little bit of history was made today on Inspirational Conversations Radio Show.
